Our Breeding Program

Illinois Alpaca Farm Home, National Champion Black Suri Male Alpaca 2011I n 2010 our breeding program produced 2 National Champion suri alpacas, out of just 12 foundation dams. Welcome to Andean Vista Ranch, an Illinois alpaca farm offering suri alpacas for sale of very fine quality to this industry we love-for a lifestyle we treasure.

Our breeding program is built on renowned, proven suri alpaca genetics. We breed purely suri alpaca to suri alpaca. We raise and breed suri alpacas seeking excellence in true suri phenotype; never compromising our breeding decisions in our desire to produce the finest suri alpacas. At our alpaca farm we breed without preference for country of origin; simply to improve the pure suri breeding stock of tomorrow.

We began our alpaca venture sourcing renowned genetics for our foundation herd-our commitment to the belief that the dam is every bit as important to the equation as the herdsire. Though not a large farm, we are pleased to offer one of the most outstanding line-ups of suri herdsires available in the country-Champions and multi-Champions out of proven genetics-premier herdsires to improve the quality of the next generation of suri alpacas. Though there is no such thing as a perfect alpaca, we enjoy the quest to make them. We have been rewarded and blessed in that quest in the offspring we are producing-with testaments in the show ring and the progeny of our production to support it. The quality of our award-winning suri alpacas competes with the very best suri alpaca farms in the country. We’re showing everything we make and producing suri alpacas at the top of their classes, champion after champion.

Our Story

illinois-suri-alpaca-farm-andean-vistaS earching to start a business while both working, something we could enjoy together, watch grow, and someday semi-retire to – we found it much to our surprise in raising alpacas! Our Illinois alpaca farm has become a joy and a passion. There is nothing as captivating as the shimmering luster and beautifully flowing locks of our suri alpacas running in the pasture. It is impossible, no matter how hurried and busy your day, not to feel serene when you gaze at the herd calmly grazing – and just stop…and live in the moment. And it is impossible not to feel your heart leap for joy in the evening as your alpacas pronk in the twilight, a seemingly joyous ode to the day. We feel blessed to care for and raise these gentle creatures, and fulfillment when our alpacas come running to greet us as we walk into the barn. We are so pleased for the endless ways alpacas have provided a wonderful return on our investment and become an integral part of our lives. We invite you to visit us on our new 40-acre Illinois alpaca farm and see what makes our suri alpacas so special.

We had a lot of fun this weekend at the Buckeye Alpaca Show in Columbus, Ohio. It was a good-sized show with a lot of very nice quality suri alpacas from farms across the country. We had a rainy drive out there Friday, but enjoyed some nice weather when we arrived.

Alpaca Farm Northwest Herald Interview Gail

Check it out! Our farm was recently featured in an article in the Northwest Herald. They were very interested to know how we got into the industry, and about the many financial advantages of alpaca ownership. Even though it was cold that day, we went out with them to get some photos of the herd too. They were all pretty camera shy... surprise, surprise.

We have enjoyed the warm reception we have received from all our neighbors near our new Crystal Lake farm. It was a pleasure to do the interview with the Northwest Herald, and we hope it gave our […]
